Mostly Ghostly’s Haunted Theatre Tour launched on Saturday 29th October 2011 at Scotland’s Oldest Working Theatre, the Theatre Royal in Dumfries. This magnificent old building is a very special place for the Mostly Ghostly team and it was here that we conducted our very first paranormal investigation, a paranormal event, two subsequent investigations and now the Haunted Theatre Tour…
We’ve all been lucky enough to experience unusual activity at the Theatre Royal, some of which we cannot find a current explanation for. Part of our ongoing research involves gathering evidence of paranormal activity and even in the short time since our ghost tours have been running, we’ve received a wealth of intriguing reports. We’d be very keen to hear your own theories on some of these curious happenings - enjoy!
“In the basement, a rash came out on my right hand. Very red and painful but it disappeared by the time I reached the stairs to the balcony. When question ‘please whistle like me’ I heard something try to”. MJ, Dumfries
“Heard footsteps (2) on the stairs while up in the balcony, two heavy footsteps sounding like they were stepping on plastic runners. Lights flickered while asking questions on stage”.
“While on stage asking questions, some of the lights started flickering. Felt uneasy in basement and didn’t like the look of the dark area in there”.
“Had a vision of a woman in a flower patterned dress falling down the stairs going up to the balcony near the toilet. Found a similar dress hanging downstairs hanging on a rack! While standing on stage, my cheeks and ears got very hot and red!” SD, Dumfries
“Very cold going upstairs to balcony. Also sitting in seat was icy cold and didn’t heat up. Using pendulum, lady called Anna had accident in balcony in the 1800’s. Enjoyed it!”
“Going down into the basement, I felt a cold hand take my hand then using the pendulum it went mad by going round in big circles. I later heard footsteps when I was on the balcony and different sounds. Three other people heard it too. Now I have a sore throat!” NT, Dumfries
“When started talk on stage, there was a man standing behind Kathleen wearing a cap and quite small in height from 1920’. I also heard two footsteps on stairs when on the balcony and thought I heard a man speak when we stopped clapping”.
