The Anniversary of Lady Marion Carruthers’ Death…
Book Now!
Famed across the globe for its ghostly Green Lady, Comlongon Castle will set the scene for an atmospheric new visitor experience this autumn - the Comlongon Ghost Tour! Nestled in glorious grounds near Clarencefield village, the imposing 15th century keep is best known as a spectacular wedding venue, but there’s another side to Comlongon, one we invite you to discover as we explore the story of resident spirit - Lady Marion Carruthers. Having died an horrific death, most likely at the hands of her enemies, Marion’s restless spirit is said to haunt the hotel, castle and grounds, still making her presence felt over four centuries later…
Inspired by Lady Marion’s tragic tale and driven by a desire to promote tourism and showcase a different, darker side of Comlongon, a unique new partnership has been created. Mostly Ghostly Investigations are proud to be working with castle owner, Phillip Ptolomey and his dedicated team to produce a haunted history experience guests will never forget. With our combined expertise in the fields of hospitality, historical research, tour guiding and paranormal research, the new alliance are well equipped to host this exciting event!
The very first ghost tour marked a dark anniversary in Comlongon’s centuries-old history - September 25th 1570 witnessed the untimely death of Lady Marion, when she fell (or was she pushed?) from the castle’s high battlements. Given the troubled situation she found herself in, it would seem the latter was more likely. However, at the time, Marion’s death was deemed suicide and as such, she was not given a proper Christian burial. Could this be why her lonely ghost still roams the castle’s grounds?
Having made its official public debut with two sell-out tours, the Comlongon Ghost Tour will run regularly throughout autumn with further dates planned for next year. Guests will be receive a warm welcome, settling into cosy surroundings, before the evening turns a little more… unsettling.
Led by costumed guides, meander through atmospheric grounds, before exploring the eerie medieval stronghold that is Comlongon Castle. Bathed in candlelight, be transported through the castle’s rich past, as we reveal a gamut of ghostly tales featuring the most famous of them all – The Green Lady…
