Welcome to the home of Mostly Ghostly Investigations - Dumfries and Galloway's first paranormal investigation team. Please take the time to explore our newly updated website which includes the latest news, paranormal database, team info page and user forum, featuring a range of fascinating topics to debate and discuss. We aim to keep you posted on a regular basis, so please pop in again soon!

We are a small, mixed group who come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences and share different beliefs. Our project is self-funded and we are always keen to explore creative fundraising activities to assist with our expenses and continued development.

As our name suggests, Mostly Ghostly are primarily interested in all things ghost, spirit and ‘entity’ related, however we welcome your stories of UFO sightings, weird and wonderful creatures and any other fascinating aspects of the paranormal and supernatural you wish to share with the team.

Our two-fold project began in October 2007, when our letter was printed in a couple of local newspapers appealing for ghost stories. We aimed to discover new, unpublished accounts of ghostly happenings in everyday locations as well as exploring the classic tales already in existence.

Our first year as paranormal investigators has been simply phenomenal! Following our official launch at the historic Theatre Royal in Dumfries on 31st October 2008, we have investigated a wide range of locations including; Garlieston Straight Road, Sorbie Tower, Jedburgh Jail, Greenlaw Mansion and Amisfield Tower, with many more in the pipeline for 2010. Our contacts continue to grow and the support we’ve received has been invaluable. We recently returned to the Theatre where we organised and held our first paranormal fundraising event, carried out a joint promotion with West Sound radio and for the last year Kathleen has been writing a regular column for DGLife Magazine, recently awarded the esteemed title ‘Scottish Magazine of the Year’.

The second challenge involved a wealth of research and preparation to enable us to become paranormal investigators. We were keen to gain access to allegedly haunted properties in order to conduct our own experiments, absorb the unique atmosphere of such locations and document any incidences of paranormal activity, firstly eliminating as many physical, psychological and environmental factors as possible. These conclusions are reached through a combination of our own knowledge and understanding and the invaluable expertise of others.

Since our inception, we have all experienced something which we cannot find a current explanation for. It’s been quite a rollercoaster at times and although alot of patience is required, we feel that the rewards are more than worth it! We could never have forecast such a multitude of mysterious and thought-provoking events and feel optimistic that in our second year we will discover more and perhaps edge a little bit closer to capturing that ever-elusive evidence!

We recognise the value of using a range of modern and traditional methods to support our investigations and aim to conduct simple experiments that are less prone to environmental influences. We pride ourselves in keeping an informed open mind and not becoming overwhelmed with gimmicks and gadgets.

In a relatively short time, Mostly Ghostly has become an established name both in Dumfries and Galloway as well as further afield. We are keen to highlight our profile both around the region and beyond so that anyone who wishes to arrange an investigation or has a story to tell, knows exactly who to contact and how to go about it.
